Our Fundamental Beliefs

We are an Independent, Fundamental, Baptist Church. In addition to advertising in the yellow pages, our church is also advertised with a Christian fundamentalist publisher, The Sword of the Lord.”

Independent

Our church is not a member of any council or convention. We direct our own affairs under the authority of the New Testament scriptures -- free from outside interference. Christ is the head of the church (Eph. 5:23) and the Chief Shepherd (I Peter 5:4). The local Pastor is the Under Shepherd or the leader of the congregation (Heb. 13:17, Acts 20:28, Eph. 4:11).

Fundamental

We follow the New Testament's teachings as our authority for faith, doctrine, and practice.

Baptist

We are true Baptists. We interpret the Bible in the “literal” sense. We have five distinctive beliefs that separate us from other groups.

The New Testament is our authority in all matters of faith and practice. We believe that the Bible is complete and it is the inspired, inerrant Word of God (II Timothy 3:16-17).
The church is to be made up of saved, baptized believers (Acts 2:41-42). Saved believers are those who have repented and received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
We believe in strict separation of church and state (Matthew 22:21). No power on earth is higher than God's Word. Therefore, the church should not be yoked with the state or controlled by it (II Corinthians 6:14). In case you are wondering, yes, we do support and pray for our appointed or elected government leaders (Romans 13:1-7, I Timothy 2:1-3, & Titus 3:1).
We believe in the priesthood of the believer. In other words, Hebrews 4:16 says, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” We do not need a priest, pastor, church, or anybody to intercede on our behalf to God.
We believe in the autonomy of the local church. In other words, the local church is to be governed by the Word of God, and it does not need to rest under the authority of any earthly group. Jesus says, in Rev. 2:6 &15, He "hated" the doctrine of the Nicolaitians.
